Dasavatharam Analysis on Characters

An analysis linking the 10 avatars/incarnations of
Mahavishnu and the characters Kamal played. Each role he took is a representation of the 10 avatars of Maha Vishnu.

1.
Mathsya avatar (Lord takes the avatar as a fish to save the vedas(God in the form of knowledge) - Ranagaraja Nambi Nnambi is thrown into water in an act of trying to save lord from being thrown into sea, though vainly.

2.
Koorma avatar - Bush This is the most loose adaptation I couldn't clearly comprehend. But if you look at the real Koorma avatar, the lord is the turtle/tortoise that helps in stirring the Ksheera Ssagara and bringing out the amruth. This essentially creates war among the devas and asuras.

Similarly today Bush facilitates war between you know whom... May be
Kamal also indicates that this avatar is a bit dumb like the tortoise...

3.
Varaha avatar - Krishnaveni Paatti. During the Mukunda song, Krishnaveni Paatti does Varaha avatar in the shadow puppetry. The frame freezes on it for a second. there is the clue. Moreover, in varaha avatar lord actually hides earth so as to protect life forms. Here too Krishnaveni hides the germs - life form inside the statue so as to protect.

4.
Narasimha avatar - Shingen Narahashi first of all the name itself is a play on the words Singam [means lion in Tamil] and Narasimha [the avatar being symbolised]. LordNarasimha manifests himelf to kill the bad guy and he also teaches Prahaladha. In the movie, he shows up to kill the killer Fletcher! and is also a teacher.. Lord Narasimha had to kill the Asura with bare
hands and hence the martial arts exponent here.. get it?

5.
Vamana avatar - Kalifulla Khan remember in Vamana avatar, lord Vishnu takes the Vishvaroopa, that is the giant form! Hence the giant Kalifulla here symbolizes Vamana avatar.

6.
Parasurama avatar - Christian Fletcher. Parasurama is actually on an angry killing spree and killed 21 generations of the particular kshatriya vamsa(warrior caste). Hence the real KILLER... That is who Fletcher is! He comes around with the gun [modern upgrade for axe] and kills everyone around.

7. Rama avatar - Avatar Singh Lord Rama stands for the one man one woman maxim, his love for
Sita, kind of symbolising true love.. Here Avatar portrays that spirit by saying that he loves his woman more than anything and wants to live for her.

8. Krishna avatar - Vincent
Poovaraghavan Lord Krishna is actually a Dalit, he is dark-skinned (Shyamalam)]. He saved Draupadi when she was being violated and he was the actual diplomat in Mahabharatham. Lord Krishna dies of an arrow striking his lower leg. Now look at how Vincent was introduced. He appears when Asin is about to be molested and he saves her like Draupadi.
Vincent is the
dalit( a term used to address the low-caste community in India
)
diplomat, fights for land issue [soil issue to be exact] and dies from the metal rod striking his leg. Oh even five of Vincent's men are drugged at P. Vasu's.. sounds familiar???

9.
Balarama avatar - Balarama Naidu This is an easy given. As the name suggests and the role personifies you can easily get it.

10.
Kalki avatar - Govindaraj Ramasamy As you know, the hero in kaliyuga(the current age we are in) can be none other than the Kalki avatar!!!

Some of you would feel that some characters are unnecessary but when u link with the above, even
Balarama avatar in the scriptures did not play a major role. The idea here is to focus on some characters and the others as supporting roles. Perhaps with the analysis above we can understand the link between the characters and how they well-represent each avatar.

P.S. Some of you out there are just not brilliant enough to understand and to appreciate a genius work. Its because you don't understand that you give up and
criticising. This happened when HeyRam was released. Many idiots didn't understand the story, therefore couldn't appreciate and start criticising. Please do not comment on an artist's brilliance when you don't have the capacity to understand it. Thank you! And please don't say that K.S Ravikumar's Padaiyappa or the previous hit Sivaji was much better! Thanks again.

That sign is for you!

It was really a tough battle to win the Monday blues but I have been mentally practicing with load of confidence, it wouldn’t be to any avail. I don’t want a horrible morning, I pray. To my rescue came a signboard which gave my sleepy mind something to ponder. The location was Novena square bus-stop. It was a signboard which read, “Flag early”. In the shape of a hand, attached to the lamp post at the bus-stop, it was made to appear like its flagging at the approaching buses.

I felt that it was educating the public, making Singaporeans feel like they just entered the urban society probably a couple of months ago that they wouldn’t know how to stop a bus.

‘They might actually start jumping in front of the approaching bus to stop it, so I guess it’s better to instruct them.’

Another quite similar situation relating to signs was one which says,” Temporary Bus-stop here”. A particular bus-stop I can’t exactly remember where. It was going through some renovation so a temporary stop was fixed just beside it. The thing is that the sign was mounted on more than say 5 directions and places in that stop area. If you turned everywhere you see the message,” Temporary Bus-stop here”. Why couldn’t public read 1 or perhaps just 2 of those messages. Looked more like a political propaganda. I have seen those during my travel to India where almost every wall would be pasted with some movie poster or political poster.

Seems like the public probably have been losing their street intelligence. Could be plenty of reasons for that, stress, excitement, or just plain dumb and stupid. But that’s not what I’m here to discuss about. Talking about losing basic intelligence and manners. Yes! I must say I have definitely witnessed that. Imagine during peak hours or just during times when the bus would be crowded. People rush in just to look at and see if they could spot an empty seat to rest on. Instead of bothering about the people around you they care about themselves and just brush through. It’s annoying. I wouldn’t be surprised to witness that if I was in India but when you see such a scene in Singapore it really disappoints me.

A sense of patience and a set of proper mannerisms seem to be lacking in some of the public. That’s why we still have to run a courtesy campaign. I figure that such simple basic signs had to be put up definitely for a reason! Feel free to discuss your opinions or experiences.

Are eggs vegetarian?

Are eggs vegetarian? It has been a huge question mark to many friends when they go like,” hey egg can eat what..Vegetarian what?, when I say that I do not eat eggs. This article could be a good read for Indians who fast on Tuesdays or Fridays by being vegetarian but would also add scrambled eggs in their meals, and to Brahmins who are so ignorant about the ingredients list to check for eggs when buying a chocolate bar or buying pastries.

Hens are given five kinds of violent-generating foods: bone meal, blood-meal, excreta-food, meat-meal and fish-meal. Can we dare to call eggs vegetarian food even after learning this? The term vegetarian egg is a first-rate misnomer. The purpose of a fertile egg is to animate life, but an infertile egg has no such purpose and as such should be considered totally inedible.

The egg produced without any contact with the male bird (and thus producing an infertile egg) is also animate because it is born out of the hen's body with its blood and cells. Therefore, its consumption is 100% non-vegetarian. According to the famous American scientist Mr. Philip J. Scramble, no egg is without life in it. The scientists at Michigan University in America have proven it beyond doubt that no egg - fertile or infertile - is without life (inanimate). The hen gives infertile eggs during the absence of the male bird. But it has been observed that she gives an infertile egg before the day of contact with the male bird - and also the next day. In other words, she can give a fertile egg even without contact with a male bird. On the fifth day, again she gives a fertile egg. This means that the semen of the male bird remains lying in her body for a considerable duration. In some cases, this duration has been observed to be as long as even six months. A fertilized egg is a pre-birth stage of a chicken; unfertilized eggs are the result of the sexual cycle of a hen and very unnatural. Both are non-vegetarian food. Victoria Moran, the author of the book Compassion: The Ultimate Ethics says, to eat fertilized egg is in fact to consume a chicken before its birth (The Ethic on borderline). I was told that an unfertilized egg is the product of a bird's sexual cycle and can hardly be regarded as natural food for Man. Whether the egg is fertile or infertile, life is essentially there; and it has all the symptoms of life, such as respiration, brain, feeding ability, etc. There are 15,000 porous-breathing holes on the shell, the cover of the egg. The egg begins to rot at a temperature of less than 8^ Celsius, 00^ Fahrenheit. When it begins this process, its rotting manifests itself through evaporation of the water content. The egg becomes infected by germs and thus becomes diseased. The progress of the rotting soon reaches the shell of the egg.

I hope I have given a logical and perhaps also a scientific explanation. My purpose is not to say people are wrong or to brainwash their minds( Oh how indirect can I be?) but to speak my point here and to clear the doubts people have regarding this matter.

Indian Dance Groups!: Really Dhool man!

The dance performance I watched last Saturday at my friends’ 21st birthday finally made me scrap my opinions in my blog.

It was a dance performed by one of the famous Indian dance groups in Singapore who were one of the participants in the last Dhool competition. They danced for their typical remixed songs. Those gun blows, robotic voices, etc. It’s very miserable to know that they participate in a tV12 Competition and the only platform that opens up for them to perform is in the community- centre- Indian variety shows, 21st Birthday Parties or perhaps Vasantham central’s countdown at some beach.

So where is their next stage? What are the benefits of all their efforts, spending loads of cash coming up with supposedly unique costumes (more like an improvisation of the uniform road sweepers wear) and countless days’ rehearsals? Would such performances craft them as the best or win them far? Would fame within the small community of Indians, teenagers be sufficient for them?

I did manage to catch a couple of episodes of the last dhool competition and as usual the competitors felt the judges were rude, unfair and not making any sense. But hey the reason they are your judges is because they have many years of experience. They are professionally trained dancers and have gone to other countries to perform and to choreograph. These dance group dancers are just formed within a small scale trying to replica what you watch in television without any theoretical and proper training in dance. No proper concept or theme but funny striking dance costumes, remixes and monkey stunts.

We’re living in the world of Talvin Singh (British DJ and table player), DJ Nasha, A R Rahman, and Yuvan Shankar Raja. Indian Musicians who were chosen as the best. You just install a music software bought in a pirated shop in your Pentium 4 Windows XP and jolly well add in some cool effects and call it remix. Where is the originality?

Why can’t the dancers compete with the intention of being the best in the world? Why only amongst a small population? I have watched competitions in Indian Television and to be frank the Singaporeans have so much more energy compared to them but why not use it with an intelligent and aesthetic approach. Many groups are being formed but quality still remains a question mark. The best part is they have grown to be like Hollywood and Bollywood. I remember the days during my last semester in Poly where my final year project mates would be gossiping about the dancers from various groups and it’s like part of the Indian society in Singapore.

When are they going over to perform in India, in USA, in Europe? With their road sweeper material costumes, dumb remixes and similar moves its not going to take them far. It’s “sometimes” amusing.

I am definitely not discouraging these people (but making fun of them of course). I am a percussionist and have performed in major events in Singapore like Sentosa countdown, National day, etc. I have watched dancers from other countries and also local. They have what it takes, Professionalism!

My advice to these people would be to go ahead expand their passion by enrolling in professional dance classes and properly learning the steps and history of the various genres of dance. I hope to not see the same styles, costumes and songs.

I hope to not laugh during their performances but clap and smile with an appreciation. I hope to see them perform in other parts of the world.

P.S If you’re a dancer in one other dance group and your temperature is rising to beat its limited level after reading this article please stop and think about my message. Thank you!

MSN Nick!

Feeling bored last night, I decided to hook up on my notebook and log on to msn messenger to see if there could be potential chatters who would be willing to spend their time and have a chat with me. Just then someone’s nick got mind to be in awe . “You got me feeling sexy...I’ll please you while you please me...” Now what could she have been doing that night. What an expression to make!

I come to realize that msn nicks have been out of the ordinary ways to express something. It could be feelings, situations and also quarrels. The question is, a nick is supposed to be an “a.k.a” name of someone isn’t it?

When we were younger we would probably prefer nicks that were similar to our idles. Like a wolverine fan would like to be called wolverine. For some people when they realize that their real names are too long and difficult to pronounce they would for example convert Swaminathan Kaliyaperumal to Sammy or Kumudha Paneerchelvam to Kums.

It really can be annoying sometimes to see someone have their nick as, “It’s all over between us...I am living in a pool of fears.” Look give me a break, I came to chat, to feel happy and there I go seeing your down in the dumps situation and that turns of my mind. You have so many means to express your sorrow. Talk to someone close, write it out or just get drunk but why reveal it in a limited textbox.

When my friends broke up they used to exchange constructive curses via their msn nicks.
“She bitched me...I will make sure you die bitch”
“You suck you liar. Totally hate guys!”

Another acquaintance lets everyone know her current physical state through her nicks. Previously it was, “ ::(hername) is fat”, now its “::(hername) has short hair now”. Next I am expecting, “::(hername) has big boobs now”.

However there are some people who use their msn nicks wisely like as an advertising channel. My cousin for example wanted to rent out his car as he was heading for a month’s holiday. He had his nick,” Car for rent, Please call ….” It brought him some responses. A friend of mine uses his nick to let everyone know when and where his band would be having their next gig.

Another appealing group of people have quotes as their nicks. Some from spiritual scriptures, some motivating quotes and myself I love to put funny quotes and it did catch the attention of many people who found it funny and gave me the pleasure that I made them laugh and be merry with the exception of one who started getting worried after reading one of my quotes? She immediately messaged me after reading asking if I could change it as it was badly affecting her. She would be getting married end of this year and I am really unsure why my nick could have given her uncomfortable feelings. It went like this,

“Don’t have your marriage ceremony during the day as you never know who you would be meeting at night.”

P.S: Do give me some comments after reading my posts. Thank you!

An Analysis on the Impacts of Sivaji - It did tremble!

I am just wondering if it would be considered an obsession, craze, aesthetic expressionism or just pathetic stupidity.

The most awaited movie in the Indian film industry, mainly in the south,
Sivaji has taken the minds of millions into a false realm causing them to do religious things for an irreligious matter, spending loads of sufficient time and money. I am not commenting on the movie but the impression the fans have created amongst themselves which actually although shows the superiority this movie carries but also the low intellectual capacity that it has brought out of its fans.

I was also keen on catching the show although not a
Rajinikanth fan but a fan of the director Shankar. It is okay to actually line up early to get a good seat in the cinema and watch the show although it costs 15 dollars. But fans like from India who involve themselves in religious activities for and in the name of the actor was a big turn off for me and probably for the much more educated fans. To shave their heads, sacrifice goats and waste buckets of milk doing what they call, ‘ Abhishek ‘ – showering the gods with milk. When this world as a whole has a huge community suffering from hunger and which even a drop of milk would help, people waste so much.

Another major incident was the rioting in Malaysia because the movie was stopped at a certain point during a screen in some cinema. Sadly there
isn't any limitation. Sometimes I feel that political superiority or aristocracy should never be holding a major position in a movie. India although has a grand cultural value and heritage it has political dispositions which create an awakening to the public when they watch a movie supporting their desires. It is sad that they do not realise that what they are watching is just behind some cameras.

The storyline in this movie was having a heavy plot showing great developments in rural India and support activities for the poor. An Indian graduate from a University in the United States comes down and builds hospitals and colleges to cater to the poor providing free education and medicines. Apart from that he develops rural areas making them into much advanced towns. These are desires of the poor in India. This has been their hope. When they tend to watch it they get so involved in the
wide screen that they consider the actor to be such a great man without realising that he could only do such things within the screen but not in real life as that it is not his job. To me its considered cheating the minds of the poor by giving them temporary joy.

I conclude with a solution. I do respect
Rajinikanth, Shankar and the team but when they see their fans engaging themselves in such activities they could do a voice out stating that its wrong. The fans would definitely listen as Rajini’s message do carry strength.
